How to append multiple values to a list in Python
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to add a multiple values or elements to a list in Python.
Consider, we have a following list:
nums = [1, 2, 3]
To append a single value to the above nums
list, we can use the append()
method in Python.
nums.append(4)
Appending multiple values to a list
To append a multiple values to a list, we can use the built-in extend()
method in Python.
The extend()
method takes the list
as an argument and appends it to the end of an existing list.
Here is an example:
nums = [1, 2, 3]
nums.extend([4, 5, 6]) # adding 4,5,6 at the end
print(nums)
Output:
[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Using + operator
We can also use the +
plus operator to add a multiple values to the list.
Here is an example:
nums = [1, 2, 3]
print(list + [4, 5, 6])
Output:
[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
