JavaScript - Passing array as function arguments
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to pass an array as function arguments in JavaScript with the help of examples.
Using es6 spread syntax (New solution)
If you want to pass an array of elements as function arguments we can use the es6 spread (...)
syntax.
Example:
function sum(num1,num2,num3,num4){
return num1+num2+num3+num4;
}
const arr = [1,2,3,4];
console.log(sum(...arr)); // 10
In the above code, the spread syntax ...arr
spreads the array of elements to a sum
function arguments.
Using apply( ) method (Old solution)
In JavaScript we have an apply()
method which is used to call a function, where it accepts the function arguments as an array.
Let’s see an example.
function sum(num1,num2,num3,num4){
return num1+num2+num3+num4;
}
const arr = [1,2,3,4];
console.log(sum.apply(null,arr)); // 10
