# How to get length of a Vector in R

In this tutorial we are going to learn about, how to get the length of a Vector in R language.

The length of a vector means total number of elements present in a vector.

## Getting the vector length

To get the length of a vector, we can use the built in `length()`

function in R.

The `length()`

function takes the vector as an argument and returns the number of elements present
in it.

Here is an example, that gets the length of a vector stored in the `fruits`

variable.

```
# vector of strings
fruits = c("apple", "bannana", "grapes")
# getting the length
result = length(fruits)
print(result)
```

Output:

`[1] 3`
