How to initialize an empty string in Python
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to intialize or create an empty string in Python with the help of examples.
A String is a collection of characters which is surrounded by the double or single quotation marks in Python
Empty string means string doesn’t contain any characters in it, so the length of empty string is 0.
Using string literal syntax
To initialize an empty string, we can use the string literal syntax double quotation marks ""
in Python.
Here is an example of empty name
string:
name = ""
We already know Empty strings have length 0, so to find if a string is empty or not we can use the len() method in Python.
Here is an example to check if a string is empty or not.
name = ""
length = len(name)
if length == 0:
print("String is empty")
else:
print("String is not empty")
Output:
"String is empty"
