How to change the port number in Nuxt

In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to change the default port number in nuxt app.

By default, the nuxt development server runs on the port number 3000.

Changing the port number

  1. Open the nuxt project in your favorite code editor.
  2. Navigate to the nuxt.config.js file and add the following configuration to it.
server: {
    port: 4500,
}

Here I set a port number 4500.

  1. Now, start the development server using npm run dev command, your port number is successfully changed.
npm run dev

> my-nuxt@1.0.0 dev /Users/saigowtham/Desktop/my-nuxt
> nuxt

   │   ▸ Target:      server               │
   │                                       │
   │   Listening: http://localhost:4500/   │
   │                                       │

If you want to change the port number temporarily, you can do it by adding a --port option to the npm run dev command.

npm run dev -- --port 4500
