How to locate the Git config file in Mac
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to locate a git config in mac with the help of the examples.
The gitconfig file is used to store the user configuration as fallback values for the .git/config file.The file /etc/gitconfig can be used to store a system-wide default configuration.
To locate the git config file in macOs, open the terminal and run the vim $HOME/.gitconfig
command in the Terminal.
vim $HOME/.gitconfig
This above command will open the global git config file in vim file editor, where you can do the neccesary changes and save it once it’s done.
We can also open the git conig file in the Vscode like this:
code. $HOME/.gitconfig
