Remove the Id from an element using JavaScript
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to remove the id from an HTML element using JavaScript with the help of examples.
Consider, we have a following html in our page.
<div id="container">
some text
</div>
Now, we need to remove the id from a div
element.
Removing id from an element
To remove the id from an element, we need to set the element id
property to an empty string (''
).
Here is an example:
<div id="container">
some text
</div>
JavaScript:
const div = document.getElementById('container');
div.id = '';
In the example above, we have removed the left-div
id from a div element.
Using removeAttribute() method (alternative approach)
To remove the id from a element, we can use the removeAttribute()
method in JavaScript.
The removeAttribute()
method takes the attribute
name (ex: id, class etc) as an argument and removes it from the element.
Here is an example:
const div = document.getElementById('container');
// it removes the id from a div elementdiv.removeAttribute('id');
