Get the current URL from a IFRAME using JavaScript
In this tutorial, we are going to learn about how to Get the current URL from a IFRAME using JavaScript
Getting the current URL from IFRAME
To get the current URL from a IFRAME, first we need to access the iframe inside the JavaScript by using the document.getElementById()
method.
const iframe = document.getElementById("iframe");
Now, it has a contentWindow.location.href
property by using that we can access the current url.
const currentURL = iframe.contentWindow.location.href;
Note: The above way only works if the both domains are having same name, if the both domains are different it doesn’t work because of cross origin resource sharing security exceptions.
Getting URL of IFRAME from cross domain
For cross domains, we can use the document.baseURI
property to get the current url.
Here is an example:
const currentURL = document.baseURI;
console.log(currentURL);
