How to access the current URL in JavaScript

In this tutorial, we are going to learn about different ways to access the current URL from a website you are browsing using JavaScript.

Getting the current URL

To get the current (full) URL of a website, you can use the window.location.href property in JavaScript.

Here is an example:

window.location.href;

Output:

"https://reactgo.com/javascript-get-current-url/"

Similarly, you can also use the document.URL property.

document.URL;

or the document.documentURI property (both returns the document location in string format).

document.documentURI;

Getting the current URL in JQuery

If you want to access the current URL in Jquery, you can use the following:

$(location).attr('href');

or

$(document).attr('URL');
